    Principal Barraza Welcomes You!

Welcome to Sparks Elementary School, home of the  2022-2023 honoree:  Home of the 2022 CA Pivotal Practice Award,  2021 District HLPUSD Teacher of the year, Mrs. Dina De La O-Johnson, and our own 2022-23 Teacher of the year is Mrs. Lina Bak!

Our Sparks faculty and staff have created school-grounded traditional school NPDL values and we are preparing our students to begin the preparation of a college-bound attitude.  Our teachers and staff are collaborative, innovative, and genuinely care for every child. We are continuing the construction of implementing NPDL.

Our school's enrollment in TK-6 is very stable and growing.  We offer our parents FREE Breakfast at 7:15 a.m. and Lunch along with the ASES/Boys & Girls Club after-school program from 2:05 to 6:00 p.m. Sparks Elementary is truly a remarkable school with exceptional students, parents, and staff.  It is an honor and privilege to work with all of you.  I look forward to a post-pandemic school year by providing your children with endless possibilities for growth.  Be advised, that Sparks teachers, staff, and administration are following HLPUSD, County of Los Angeles Public Health Dept. and CDE mandates, recommendations, and protocols to manage the pandemic we are all faced with at this time.

Be assured Sparks Elementary will continue to mitigate safety and healthy-minded practices to help our defense against Covid-19 and its variants.

Last year we added iPads and laptops along with hotspots to help navigate Lexia, Dreambox, AR, and the Canvas programs.  To aid our students, we have incorporated academic enrichment and intervention programs across the curriculum.

This year, we will continue to provide students with meaningful opportunities to deepen their knowledge of technology and increase their computer skills using their 1:1 classroom laptops integrated with the CA curriculum.
