    Principal Barraza Welcomes You

Welcome to Sparks Elementary School, home of our District HLPUSD Teacher of the year, Mrs. Dina De La O-Johnson. Teachers like Mrs. Del La O make our school amazing!

Sparks faculty and staff have created a school grounded in traditional school values preparing students to become college-bound.  Our teachers & staff are collaborative, innovative, and genuinely care for every child.

Our school's enrollment is very stable and growing. Sparks Elementary is truly a remarkable school with exceptional students, parents, and staff.  It is an honor and privilege to work with all of you.  I look forward to a post-pandemic school year by providing your children endless possibilities for growth.  Be advised, Sparks teachers, staff, and administration are following HLPUSD, County of Los Angeles Public Health Dept. and CDE mandates, recommendations, and protocols to manage the pandemic we are all faced with at this time.

As we ease our way back into the new school year, everyone at Sparks Elementary will continue to mitigate safety and healthy-minded practices to help our defense against Covid-19.

Last year we added iPads and laptops along with hotspots to help navigate the distance learning and Canvas program.  We also incorporated academic enrichment and intervention programs such as Lexia and Dreambox along with AR across the curriculum.

This year, we will continue to provide students meaningful opportunities to deepen their knowledge in technology and increase their computer skills using their classroom laptops within their classrooms.
