Hacienda La Puente Unified Students Receive Donations from Supervisor Solis, Baby2Baby
Posted 4/5/22

CITY OF INDUSTRY Families at Sparks Elementary School eagerly lined up to receive backpacks, school supplies, diapers and other essentials donated by Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis and the nonprofit organization Baby2Baby at a giveaway event in honor of Cesar Chavez Day on March 31.

Lively Latin-pop music and an inspirational speech led by Solis echoed through the school courtyard as Solis and Baby2Baby team members assisted the Sparks Elementary community with selecting and packaging their items. During the event, free COVID-19 vaccinations were administered and testing kits were also provided. The event aimed to support families in need and celebrate Chavez’s community efforts on what would have been his 95th birthday.

The event was attended by Superintendent Dr. Alfonso Jiménez, the City of La Puente Mayor Charlie Klinakis, HLPUSD Board member Anthony Duarte and hosted by Sparks Elementary’s Families in Action, faculty and staff of Solis and Baby2Baby.

“Thank you to Supervisor Solis and Baby2Baby for the generous donations and engagement with our students and families at Sparks Elementary,” Superintendent Dr. Alfonso Jiménez said. “These contributions will help support the success of our students and we are proud to have provided partnerships within our community that work to celebrate collaboration and diversity.”
